Van Driver Killed In Collision With Hospital Shuttle Bus: Ewing Police

A van driver from Trenton who collided with a hospital shuttle bus after crossing the double-yellow line in Ewing died of his injuries, authorities said.

The van driver was northbound on Scotch Road at about 6:40 a.m. Monday, March 18 when he collided with a Capital Health Systems bus at the intersection with Sam Weinroth Road, Ewing police said Wednesday, March 20.

An off-duty Ewing police officer stopped to render aid as the van driver went into cardiac arrest, police said. He had to be extricated from the van, they said, and was later pronounced dead at Capital Health-Regional.

The shuttle bus driver was brought to Capital Health-Hopewell with chest pains, police said.

There were no passengers on the shuttle bus.

The van driver's name had not been released pending notification of next of kin who are overseas, police said.
